Jason M. Stanley: The Grassfed Geek

A grassfed geek?

Let me clarify. I myself am not grassfed—but the meat that I eat comes from healthy, grassfed animals from local farms. I’m an enthusiast, or a geek, you could say, for nutrient-dense meat and animal products and have seen a huge difference in my health since switching from a mostly vegan to whole foods diet in late 2012. (I’m also a geek in general.)

My story

I've tried a bunch of different ways of eating over the years, but a year ago I got serious about following a diet heavily inspired by the Paleo Diet and the Bulletproof Diet. In December 2012 I started eating more butter, eggs, and meat from grass-fed animals; I stopped eating wheat and other grains; and I limited all sugars including fruit. I had been mostly vegan for the past 3 years and had not experienced optimal health. Since changing my diet I've lost 35 pounds, gained muscle, and feel so excited about sharing my experience with others and talking about what's worked for me.

Grassfed Geek is a place for me to document and share my ideas and experiences of Paleo-inspired eating, optimizing mental performance, biohacking, quantified self, and a low-stress, engaged lifestyle.

This blog will involve everything I do to promote high performance in my body and brain, as well as some of the external interests that give my life richness and just make me happy. I strive to be a broad person, and I hope a glance at the blog will show you a wide variety of things that contribute to a healthy, happy life.

I am not a doctor, registered dietitian, or fitness expert. The purpose of my blog is to share my experiences with food, fitness, and life, not to dole out advice. In regard to your health and fitness, do your own research.
